Whether you’re looking for a high-end, relaxing experience or a rugged hike with wildlife sightings, golfing in Idaho is sure to deliver both fun and views. The well-maintained courses below boast some of the best northern grass blends offered, including Washington grown Kentucky Bluegrass fairways on many of them. The state’s gorgeous canyons, rivers, mountains, and lakes provide an ideal backdrop for golfers of all ages and abilities.

  1. For a luxe and unconventional experience, check out the Coeur d’Alene Golf & Spa Resort in Coeur d’Alene, once described by Golf Digest as “America’s most beautiful resort golf course.” Featuring 18 holes of golf and a shuttle boat that ferries you from the resort to the course, the most interesting part is definitely the 14th hole’s movable Floating Green (pictured above).

  2. In Post Falls, the Prairie Falls Golf Club is a beginner-friendly, well-maintained 18-hole course with a new 42,000-square-foot facility opening in July, featuring a hotel, event space, shopping and six golf simulator bays.

  3. Circling Raven in Worley has been on so many “best of” lists for a reason: it’s well maintained, challenging and beautiful, with a wonderful and friendly staff. The sprawling 18-hole course takes you through wetlands and wooded areas, and many reviewers say it’s their favorite course in the state.

  4. The Idaho Club in Sandpoint is an 18-hole, all-levels course designed by Jack Nicklaus. With views of Moose Mountain and the Pack River, the course challenges you while taking you back to nature. Stop at the Clubhouse after for drinks or dinner, and locals say you won’t be disappointed.

  5. Shadow Valley Golf Course in Garden City is a beautiful, challenging course with a dozen elevation changes in the front nine alone. One reviewer said, “I think #2 may have been designed by the devil himself.” The back nine is an easier game, but either way, you’ll have gorgeous views to balance the challenge.

  6. McCall Golf Course in McCall is a public, walkable 27-hole course nestled in the mountains. The three nine-hole courses are good for all abilities, and you may get a surprise visit from some deer and other wildlife as you play.

  7. Canyon Springs Golf Club in Twin Falls is open year round and features 18 holes surrounded by the walls of the Snake River Canyon. With gorgeous views of the Perrine Bridge and the river, you might not even notice how challenging the course really is.
