Washington: a master at golf for everyone

Georgia may have the Masters and Augusta National, but Washington state golf courses can rival its beauty a dozen times over. It is home to many stunning golf courses featuring Washington grown natural turfgrass. Washington is jaw-droppingly beautiful in every corner, and these courses are renowned for their picturesque views, challenging layouts, and exceptional amenities.   1. One of the most unique courses is Apple Tree Golf Course (pictured above) located in Yakima. It’s known for the scenic beauty, unique layout, and challenging design, and features a hole shaped like an apple, along with apple orchards, waterfalls, and stunning views.

  2. Chambers Bay Golf Course near University Place is a walking-only course that hosted the 2015 U.S. Open. With tawny fescue grasses, sand dunes, huge fairways, and panoramic views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains, Chambers Bay offers a professional-level game, even for beginners.

  3. Salish Cliffs Golf Club in Shelton is a championship course that features stunning views of the Kamilche Valley and the Olympic Mountains, with a full-service restaurant, practice range, short game area, and a GPS-enabled golf cart fleet. And luckily for you, the course is adjacent to Little Creek Casino & Resort, which offers hotel + golf packages for guests.

  4. Wine all you want at Wine Valley Golf Club located in Walla Walla, ranked one of the World’s 10 Best Wine Destinations. Less than a 15-minute drive from downtown, Wine Valley features rolling hills, scenic vistas, and challenging greens in the shadow of the Blue Mountains.

  5. Gold Mountain Golf Club is a public golf club near Bremerton that features two championship courses: the Olympic Course and the Cascade Course. Both courses offer breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains and the Puget Sound, and boasts a restaurant, events spaces, and an accredited FootGolf Course (a combo of soccer + golf!)

  6. Suncadia Resort is a luxury resort located in Cle Elum. Suncadia features 36 holes of championship golf – the Prospector, Rope Rider, and Tumble Creek courses on 6,400 acres. Along with hotels, event spaces, vacation rentals, and even a spa, the resort boasts the “ultimate mountain golf experience.”

  7. Indian Canyon is a gem of the city, and hosts a challenging 121/132 slope rating for Men’s/Women’s white tee boxes. Designed in 1930, it is consistently one of the best public courses in the United States. Minutes from downtown, it is a joy to play the 6,255 yard course winding through vistas, trees, and undulating greens.
